We did some work, things died, money was spent.

Our first main task upon taking possession of this house was to re-grade along side it.
We created a slope with clay taking water away from the foundation of the house. It was tedious, physical work. Most boring but necessary. The plan was to then lay some top soil on top of the clay and plant greenery to further help draw away water but that hasn't happened as of it because...our furnace died!

It was 53 years old so we were kind of expecting this to happen. To our credit we did try our very best to nurse it along. When the sparks started to fly-literally-we knew we couldn't hold off any longer and a new furnace was "purchased" As in, we've been putting away every last penny we've made to pay the stupid thing off before the interest kicks in on our "don't pay for one whole year" finance deal. We're almost there! Woot! It should be paid off by the end of August.

And that's pretty much it. We've done some other small things but in the interest of catching this blog up, they don't need to be mentioned. I'm going to start focussing on another purchase that put house repairs on the back burner: my trip to Peru!

Stay tuned.
